📹 Embedding Zoom Recordings into Moodle (or your LMS)

This tutorial walks you through two easy methods for adding your Zoom lecture or meeting recordings into Moodle using either a shareable link or by embedding the video via Kaltura (My Media).

Option 1: Add a Zoom Link to Moodle

✅ Step 1: Get the Shareable Link from Zoom

1. Log in to your Zoom account.
2. On the left menu, click "Recordings".
3. Find the desired video.
4. Click the “Share” button.
5. Copy the shareable link provided.

✅ Step 2: Add the Link to Your Moodle Course

1. Open your course in Moodle.
2. Turn editing on and click “Add an activity or resource” in the desired section (e.g., Week 1).
3. Choose “URL” from the list of resources.
4. Add a name/title for the video.
5. Paste the Zoom shareable link into the External URL field.
6. Click “Save and return to course.”

Note: This method does not embed the video—it opens in a new tab.

Option 2: Embed the Zoom Video Using Kaltura (My Media)

✅ Step 1: Download the Zoom Recording

1. Go to Zoom > Recordings.
2. Click the three dots next to the recording.
3. Download all three files:
   • Video (.mp4)
   • Audio-only (.m4a)
   • Transcript (.vtt)

If the recording was saved locally, check your computer's Zoom folder.

✅ Step 2: Upload to My Media in Moodle

1. In Moodle, go to “My Media” (can also be done while editing a course).
2. Click “Add new” > “Media Upload.”
3. Choose the .mp4 video file and upload it.
4. Add a name, description, and optional tags.
5. Click “Save and Embed.”

✅ Step 3: Embed the Video in a Course Section

1. Go to your course and click “Add an activity or resource.”
2. Select “Text and media area” (recommended).
3. In the text editor, click the Kaltura icon (looks like a sun/star).
4. Select your uploaded video and click “Embed.”
5. Save and return to course.

Captions may take up to 24 hours to appear.
