Kaltura

Kaltura is an online interactive Virtual Classroom with features including video conferencing, digital whiteboards, breakout rooms, multimedia documents, chats and quizzes. Kaltura and Zoom are similar and competing products that are normally chosen based on individual instructor preference. Kaltura is usually used for online or hybrid classes and is accessed from a link found in your Moodle course page.

Notes:

  • Kaltura is generally only used for online or hybrid courses
  • Access is normally a link found in your Moodle class - Media Gallery on the left boarder menu
  • Some instructors prefer to use a product called Zoom which has similar features; check Moodle or your course outline to see which is used for your specific course. If you have multiple online courses you may need to know both.

Moodle is an open source Learning Management System (LMS). It allows students to access course materials, gain feedback, upload work, see grades and much more all by logging in to their very own online account. It may be used as a primary point of contact for online classes or as a supplement to traditional classroom lectures. All work is stored and accessible from home or on-campus.
