Setting Up Publisher Resources in Respondus Lockdown Browser for Open Book Exams

Respondus Lockdown Browser offers a secure environment for assessments while accommodating access to essential publisher resources. By allowing students access to curated materials such as web pages, PDFs, and videos within the browser, educators can deliver open book exams without compromising security.

Allowing access to online materials during Moodle exams requires some setup in Respondus Lockdown Browser.

Tips

  • Focused Resources: Where possible limit students to one source for online textbooks for each course. This will make setting up access in your exam much easier
  • Communication with Publishers: Reach out early to acquire necessary domains and permissions for accessing publisher resources during exams.
  • Prepare early: Run a learning quiz for students using publisher resources early in the semester. This will allow students to be more familiar with the assessment platform. It will also help instructors to identify any issues and give time to resolve them with support from EdTech.
  • Collaboration with EdTech: Reach out to EdTech as early as possible to discuss your needs for online exams.

Publisher Resources

On each of these pages is a list of domains that you will need to enter into the Respondus Lockdown Browser for each quiz. A domain is just "mywebsite.com" so removing the "http://www." or any other information before or after the domain itself. There are some examples on the LockDown Browser: Using External Links and Files page with instructions.

They will need to be separated by commas. So for example - mywebsite.com, mypublisher.com, books.mypublishere.com etc...
