D2L Brightspace Transition Project: Timeline and What to Expect

Okanagan College is beginning a multi-phase project to transition its Learning Management System from Moodle to D2L Brightspace. This project is co-sponsored by Teaching & Learning Innovations and IT Services and is designed to support a smooth, well-supported changeover for faculty, staff, and students.

Project Timeline

January 19, 2026 is the official start date for project work with D2L Brightspace. Planning, configuration, and early implementation activities begin at this time.

D2L Brightspace will be fully launched as Okanagan College’s Learning Management System at the start of the Fall 2026 semester.

A more detailed project timeline, including key milestones and opportunities for engagement, will be made available soon as planning continues.

What Will Happen During the Project

  • Initial implementation and planning meetings with D2L
  • Development of a course migration plan for existing Moodle courses
  • Provisioning of Brightspace sandbox environments so faculty can explore and test the platform
  • Identification and setup of core tools, integrations, and workflows
  • Access to training resources, documentation, and guided learning opportunities
  • Ongoing communication and updates as timelines and processes are finalized
