This FAQ provides early information for faculty and instructors about Okanagan College’s transition from Moodle to D2L Brightspace. Details will continue to be shared as the project progresses.
When does this project begin?
January 19, 2026 is the official start date for project work with D2L Brightspace.
Who can I contact if I have questions about the move to D2L Brightspace?
If your question is not answered here, please email tli@okanagan.bc.ca. Questions from faculty and instructors are welcomed by the team and help inform ongoing planning and communication.
When does this project complete?
D2L Brightspace will be fully adopted as the Learning Management System for Okanagan College at the start of the Fall 2026 semester.
How will existing Moodle courses be moved to D2L Brightspace?
A migration plan will be developed to support the transition of existing Moodle courses, including fully built course shells that are reused each year. We are very early in the process, with initial implementation meetings beginning in mid-January 2026, so details about timelines, tools, and the level of automation are still being planned. More information and guidance will be shared as the project progresses.
Can I get access to a Brightspace course to try things out?
Yes. Sandbox access will be provisioned as soon as our Brightspace instance is available. We are currently in the early stages of implementation, including initial meetings with D2L, and expect to have a clearer sense of timelines very soon.
Faculty who have requested early access will be contacted as soon as sandbox environments are ready. Stay tuned for updates.
