Adjust Brightspace Dates in Bulk Using Manage Dates

Use the Manage Dates tool to find course activities and adjust their due dates, start dates, or end dates in bulk. You can move dates by a set number of days or hours, or calculate new dates between two dates.

  • Filter the course activities you want to review, such as quizzes and assignments.
  • Select the activities you want to change.
  • Choose how you want to adjust their dates, then save your changes.

Step 1: Open Manage Dates

  1. From your course, select Course Admin.
  2. Switch to Category Mode, if needed.
  3. Under Site Resources, select Manage Dates.

Step 2: Filter the Activities

  1. Select the tools you want to include, such as Quizzes and Assignments.
  2. Select Apply Filter to display the matching activities.
  3. To narrow the results by date, select Show Advanced Filters.
  4. Enter the date ranges you want to search. For example, you can filter for due dates between October 31 and December 31. You can also filter by start dates or end dates.
  5. Select Apply Filter to update the results.

Step 3: Select Activities to Change

Review the filtered results and select the activities you want to update. When you are ready, select Bulk Offset Dates.

Step 4: Choose Which Dates to Adjust

In the bulk date adjustment options, choose the date types you want to change. Depending on the activity, these may include:

  • Due Date
  • Start Date
  • End Date
  • Other Activity

Step 5: Set the Date Adjustment

Choose one of the available methods to adjust the selected dates:

  • Offset by direction and range: Move dates forwards or backwards by a number of days or hours. For example, to move due dates backwards by one hour, select the backward direction and enter 1 hour.
  • Calculate the range between two dates: Set dates to fall within a new date range. This can be useful when adapting course dates for a different semester.

  1. Choose the adjustment method and enter the required values.
  2. Review the activities and date types you selected.
  3. Select Save to apply the changes.

Known Issue: Updated BC Time Zone Date and Time Display

Some Windows PCs using Chromium-based browsers, including Chrome and Edge, may display dates or times incorrectly if they have not received the patch for the updated BC time zone information. Using Firefox or a Mac displays the correct time.

The latest Chrome update, version 155.0.8059.40, fixes the issue. Please update Chrome to the latest version and advise your students to do the same.
