Using Temporary Logins
There are times when people need temporary access to the network, but they are not regular students or instructors. Typically, people making a presentation or running short-term course need to use the machines but have no login available, so a temporary login is created with an expiry in the near future.
These logins can be used to access the machines in the computer labs, or for campus WiFi access, as needed.
How do I use the Temporary Account to log in to the Lab machines?
On the lab machine, the username is usually cleared after each use, but if the previous user has not logged out the machine may prompt for that person’s credentials. If that is the case, select Other User or overwrite existing credentials. Use the email address for logging in.

What about other Office products like Word and Excel?

Yes, those are viable as well. A temporary account has the access of a student as far as Microsoft licensing is concerned, so you have use of all the Office 365 products for the duration. Documents and spreadsheets created will still be viable afterwards, but you may need to get Word or Excel apps from another source after your account expires.
Temporary Network Accounts can be used to access:
- OC computers on campus
- Printers
- OC and Eduroam wireless
As the accounts are not permanent, it is recommended to save files to a USB stick.
I already have my phone and laptop, just need the account to log in to WiFi …
To use temporary accounts for WiFi on the phone, select eduroam wifi and use the email credential, as follows:

On your phone (or on a laptop), select the eduroam wifi
EAP method: Select PEAP
Phase 2 authentication: Select MSCHAPv2
CA Certificate: Select 'Do not validate'
Identity: Use UPN login, 'temp-Research1@myokanagan.bc.ca'
Anonymous Identity: Leave blank
Password: Use 'gidbtl'

… and it shows as connected!
To connect a laptop, select the WiFi icon on the status bar, lower right near the date/time.

Select eduroam and Connect. It will prompt for name (email) and password, confirm that you want to connect, and attach to the network. It will ‘remember’ the credentials, and if you’ve selected the box to connect automatically it will use the credentials to connect next time the network is within range.
