Importing Quiz Questions into Moodle Using Respondus 4

Creating quizzes in Moodle is easy when paired with Respondus 4. This tool allows you to author and manage quizzes offline and upload them directly to your Moodle course. Below, we break down the full process—from formatting your questions to publishing them in Moodle.

Note: You can install Respondus 4 via the Company Portal on your OC computer. To request the license details email edtech@okanagan.bc.ca.

📝 Section 1: Preparing Your Quiz Content

✅ Step 1.1: Create a Plain Text File

Use Notepad (Windows) or TextEdit (Mac) to write your quiz questions using Respondus formatting. Include:

  • Multiple Choice

  • True/False

  • Essay

  • Fill-in-the-Blank

  • Matching

  • Short Answer

  • Multiple Answer (select more than one)

Tip: For non-multiple choice questions, add the question type manually (e.g., Type: FMB for fill-in-the-blank).

✅ Step 1.2: Create an Image-Based Word Document (Optional)

To include images in your quiz, use Microsoft Word and embed your images within the question text, not before or after the title.
