Export Final Grades from Brightspace to Banner

Brightspace uses the Banner Grades scheme to send final whole-number grades directly to Banner. Once the grade scheme is configured, you can review and export grades from Brightspace without entering them a second time in Banner.

  • Apply the Banner Grades scheme to both final-grade items.
  • Review the whole-number grade that will be sent to Banner.
  • Export grades to Banner and confirm the export status.

How rounding works: The Banner Grades scheme converts the percentage to a whole-number grade. For example, 77.5% displays as 78 and 78.5% displays as 79.

Step 1: Open Grades

  1. Sign in to Brightspace and open the course whose final grades you want to export.
  2. Select Grades from the course navigation bar.

Step 2: Select the Final-Grade Items

  1. On the Grades page, select Manage Grades.
  2. Select the checkboxes beside Final Calculated Grade and Final Adjusted Grade.
  3. Select Bulk Edit.

Step 3: Apply the Banner Grades Scheme

  1. In the Grade Scheme column, open the menu for Final Calculated Grade and select Banner Grades.
  2. Repeat this for Final Adjusted Grade.
  3. Select Save.

Step 4: Verify the Final Banner Grades

Open Enter Grades and review the Final Calculated Grade column. The whole-number grade shown with the Banner Grades scheme is the grade prepared for export.

Important: Review the final grades carefully before exporting them. Confirm that any required grading and adjustments have been completed.

Step 5: Open the SIS Export

From the Enter Grades screen, select Export to SIS.

Step 6: Select and Export Student Records

  1. Select the checkbox beside each student record you want to export. To select every student, use the checkbox on the left side of the table header.
  2. If a grade must be changed for this export, enter the required whole-number grade in the Override Grade column.
  3. Select Export.

Step 7: Confirm the Export Status

The Export Details page displays the progress and result of the export. Wait for processing to finish, then confirm that the status is Success and review the result for each student.

If an export is unsuccessful: Review the message in the Result column and contact Educational Technology if you need help resolving the issue.
