Add a Talis Reading List to a Brightspace Course

This tutorial explains how to add an existing Talis reading list to a unit in your Brightspace course.

You can add a specific section from one of your reading lists or embed the complete Talis reading list.

Add a Talis Reading List

  1. Open the Brightspace course where you want to add the reading list.
  2. Select Content from the course navigation.
  3. Open the unit where you want the reading list to appear.
  4. Select Add Existing.
  5. On the What would you like to add? page, select More.
  6. Scroll down and select Talis List.
  7. Brightspace will display the Talis reading lists you have created.
  8. Select the appropriate reading list.
  9. Follow the on-screen prompts to add the selected list or section to your Brightspace unit.

Select What to Add

After selecting a Talis reading list, you can choose how much of the list to add to your Brightspace unit:

  • Add a specific section: Use this option when only part of the reading list is relevant to the unit.
  • Embed the complete list: Use this option when students should have access to the entire Talis reading list.

Before You Begin

Important: The Talis reading list must already be created before it can be added to your Brightspace course.

If the list you need does not appear, confirm that it has been created and is associated with the correct course.

Best Practices

  • Add reading-list sections to the units where students will use them.
  • Give the embedded list or section a clear and descriptive title.
  • Confirm that the correct list or section has been added.
  • Use View as Learner to verify that students can access the reading list.
