Copy Content from One Brightspace Course to Another
This guide explains how to copy content from a Brightspace Sandbox, Development Shell, or previous course offering into a new course shell.

Step 1: Open Course Admin
Begin in the course where you want to copy the content into.
- Open the destination course.
- Select Course Admin from the course navigation bar.
Step 2: Open Import / Export / Copy Components
The Import/Export/Copy Components tool allows you to copy content from another Brightspace course.
- In Course Admin, locate Import / Export / Copy Components.
- Select Import / Export / Copy Components.
Step 3: Choose Copy Components from Another Org Unit
Use this option when copying from a Sandbox, Development Shell, or previous course offering.
- Select Copy Components from another Org Unit.
- Leave Include protected resources checked.
- Select Search for offering.
Step 4: Search for the Course to Copy From
Search for the course that contains the content you want to copy.
- Enter part of the course name or course code.
- Select Search.
- Locate the course you want to copy from.
Step 5: Select the Source Course
Choose the course that you want to copy content from.
- Select the radio button beside the correct course.
- Confirm that the correct course is highlighted.
Step 6: Add the Selected Course
Add the selected course as the source course for the copy process.
- Select Add Selected.
Step 7: Copy All Components
For most course-to-course imports, use Copy All Components. This copies the full course into the destination course shell.
- Confirm the correct course appears under Course to Copy.
- Select Copy All Components.
Which Import Option Should I Choose?
Copy All Components is recommended for most instructors and semester rollovers.
Use Select Components if you only need specific items such as quizzes, assignments, rubrics, question banks, or individual content modules.
Step 8: Open Manage Dates
After copying content, review and update course dates for the new semester.
- Return to Course Admin.
- Select Manage Dates.
Step 9: Filter by Tool
Use filters to focus on the activities that contain dates you need to review.
- Select Specific Tools.
- Select the tools you want to review.
- Select Apply Filter.
Step 10: Update Course Dates
Manage Dates allows you to quickly update due dates, start dates, and end dates for a copied course.
- Use Bulk Edit Dates to manually update multiple items.
- Use Bulk Offset Dates to shift dates forward or backward by a specified number of days.
- Review assignments, quizzes, discussions, content, and intelligent agents before making the course available to students.
