The first time you use Express Capture, your browser will usually ask for permission to use your camera and microphone.
- When prompted, allow access to your camera and microphone.
- Check that your camera preview appears.
- Adjust the camera preview size if needed.
Step 5: Turn On Screen Sharing
If you are recording a presentation or walkthrough, turn on screen sharing before you begin recording.

- Select Start Recording.
- Wait for the countdown.
- Move through your presentation, page, or activity as needed.
- Speak clearly as you record your explanation.

- Select Use This.
- Rename the recording if needed.
- Review the available player options.

Step 9: Save the Brightspace Page
After embedding the video, save the page so learners can access the recording.

- Select Save and Close.
- Review the embedded video on the finished page.
Your media may continue processing after it is inserted. You do not need to wait for all processing to finish before embedding it.
Step 10: Adjust the Playback Layout
Once the video is embedded and processed, you may see different playback layout options.
- Switch between the screen recording and camera view.
- Show the camera and screen side by side.
- Make either the camera or screen recording larger.
- Use the layout controls to choose the best view for playback.
Pro Tip
Do a short test recording before recording a full presentation.
Check that your microphone, camera, and screen share are working correctly. This helps avoid re-recording longer videos if one setting was missed.
