In preparation for teaching in the Fall 2024 Semester these highlights from our EdTech Knowlege Base will help to guide you as you get your online resources ready for September.

Moodle 4.1 introduces a revamped dashboard, prioritizing timeline and upcoming events to help students stay on top of their assignments. Course cards maintain their familiar look but are now better organized. Navigation improvements categorize courses by their status (starred, in-progress, or future), streamlining access to key features like participants and grades.

For those integrating Kaltura classroom within Moodle 4.1, the setup process is straightforward. By enabling edit mode and adding the Kaltura Media Gallery block, users can easily access and initiate Kaltura classroom meetings directly from their Moodle course. This integration ensures a seamless setup, allowing users to check their devices and start meetings efficiently.

Managing course deadlines in Moodle 4.1 is simplified through the "Reports" tab. By selecting the "Dates" report, users can set and organize deadlines for quizzes and assignments, ensuring clarity and preventing overlapping deadlines. Adjustments to quiz settings, such as time limits and attempt behavior, enhance the student experience, making this a highly useful feature for course management.

Populating a new course in Moodle involves several key steps: setting start and end dates, adding a course summary and image, and adjusting the course format and visibility settings. Editing course content is made easy with the edit mode, allowing for the addition of resources like syllabi and media. Incomplete sections or quizzes can be hidden until they are ready for student view. The activities and resources menu provides options to integrate various elements like quizzes and forums, helping create a coherent and accessible course structure.

Importing a previous course into a new Moodle shell is efficiently demonstrated. By locating the course to be imported and using the "course reuse" option, users can back up, restore, copy, or reset a course. The import process allows for selecting specific parts or importing all data. Post-import, users can adjust content and deadlines, utilizing the "dates" option under the reports panel. This guide ensures a smooth transition of course materials, with additional assistance available if needed.
