Access the Gradebook
Navigate to the Grades section in your Moodle course.
Identify the student whose grades you want to hide.
Enable Edit Mode
Click on the Turn Edit Mode On button, typically located in the upper-right corner of the screen.
Locate the Visibility (Eyeball) Icon
Find the eyeball icon next to the grade or category you wish to hide.
Click the icon to hide the grade. It will display a crossed-out eyeball, indicating that the grade is now hidden from the student.
Ensure Category Grades Are Hidden
If the grade is part of a category, ensure that the category total is also hidden. This prevents students from inferring their grades through category calculations.
Re-Enable Edit Mode
Log back in as the instructor or administrator.
Click on the Turn Edit Mode On button.
Restore Grade Visibility
Locate the previously hidden grade or category.
Click the eyeball icon to unhide the grade. The crossed-out eyeball will disappear, indicating that the grade is now visible to the student.
Grading Workflows: For more advanced grade management, consider setting up grading workflows in Moodle. These workflows allow for the staged release of grades but require additional configuration.
Quick Adjustments: If you need a fast solution for temporarily hiding grades, the method described above is straightforward and effective.
By following these steps, you can efficiently manage grade visibility for individual students in Moodle, ensuring both flexibility and privacy.
